Here’s an introduction tutorial on how to use the latest version of Code Igniter to date on a hosted environment. All you have to do is download the framework and have a hosting account with cpanel. You don’t have to set up anything on your local environment.
- no configuring your php.ini file
- no configuring your Apache.
Note: I basically took the same style and approach as Jeffrey Way did in his net.tutsplus tutorial, but made it work for the new version of Code Igniter, added in more explanation and adapted it for a hosted environment instead of a local environment.

P.S. It was a complete pain in the neck to blur out all the sensitive data, so I think in the future I’ll have to use a hosting account that I don’t care about, and not include the top level browser url input in the video. I guess you learn something new every day.
