
To avoid confusion, I think networking events are great, but I never go to “Networking” events. What I mean by that is that if the event has networking in the title of the event, then I do not go to it.
In my experience, whenever I went to an event with networking in the title of the event, I ended up getting pyramid schemes pitched to me, morons complaining to me about the economy and resume writers telling me how they could help me get my dream job. That was pretty ironic, because they themselves couldn’t find a job with their own resumes. I think I even had some jerk try to sell me Nets tickets. This is when the Nets were doing god awful. I remember looking at the Nets Sales Person in disbelief and came to an epiphany at that moment about networking. Continue reading
